Chuck is a godly, vibrant Christian who has
followed the Lord consistently, having turned from a
prior interest in sports to a passion for serving
Christ. He is indeed an honored member of our alumni
family and we thank God for Him.
I graduated from Los Angeles Baptist Theological
Seminary (which became Northwest Baptist Seminary)
in 1966 with the Bachelor or Divinity degree (now
the Master of Divinity). While a student I had been
challenged towards missions and was strongly
encouraged by missionary Bill Scherer to consider
the field of Peru. Within a few months of graduation
I was accepted by the Association of Baptists for
World Evangelism as a missionary to Peru. After a
year of deputation, my wife (Judy) and I, along with
our daughter (Ruth), arrived in Mexico in January of
1968 for language study. Our second daughter, Sarah,
was born while in Mexico. In the Spring of 1969 we
began our ministry in Lima, Peru, working at the
Pamplona Baptist Church. That ministry grew from 15
to 80 during the next three years, during which time
our son, Steve, was born.
I have been continually ministering and have seen
significant blessing in Peru since that time. The
various areas around Lima where my family and I have
labored are Pamplona baja, Alphonso Ugarte, Ollantay,
Salamanca, Grumete Medina, Chacarilla, and Las Vinas.
Each of these areas now has a church building, and
most have Peruvian pastors. I am involved in a wide
variety of ministries, including that of pastoring
and teaching in a Bible institute and in the
Theological Education by Extension program. In
addition I am active in evangelism. My wife, Judy,
served by my side until her death in August of 1994.
Since that time, I married Jean Gustave who was
teaching school in Lima while learning the language.
Jean and I have since come to the US serving with
ABWE and NWBHM in Central Washington with the
Hispanic population as the Hispanic director. Works
have been begun in Quincy, Connell and Grandview.
God has been blessing this ministry since August
2002.
